We're pleased to share our latest research paper, RansomWave: Why Victims Believe Criminals — Cryptography and Ransomware Trust. Drawing on data from Chainalysis, FBI IC3, Coveware, and Mandiant, it examines a question most incident response planning overlooks: why organisations under ransomware attack come to trust the very criminals extorting them, and how attackers use cryptographic proof and calculated negotiation tactics to manufacture that credibility. Understanding how that trust is built, before an attack happens rather than during one, is essential for any leadership team responsible for cyber risk.
